Shrove Tuesday ceremony of The Purbeck Marblers

Traditional Corfe Event!

The Purbeck Marblers will be at the Fox Inn, Corfe Village for the annual induction of the new apprentices into the ‘Company of Marblers and Stonecutters of Purbeck’!

This long held tradition involves the freemen gathering at The Fox Inn until the church chimes 12 noon before making their way into the Town Hall (reputedly the smallest town hall in the country) After the ceremony the custom is to kick a football around the boundary of Corfe in order to preserve the old right of way.
Open from 10 am to wecolme the ‘Marblers’ for those who wish to watch and be part of this charming Purbeck Tradition.
