Can the India’s space programme help alleviate India’s poverty? This is the central question posed in this endearing and heart -warming documentary. As the scientists in Mumbai tackle the immense challenges of constructing a satellite that will fly into a black hole the neighbouring children of the slums have dreams of their own. The juxtaposition of these two dramatically different communities is affectionately created in Sue Sudbury’s film and watching a truck carry the satellite on India’s chaotic motorway system is a perfect metaphor of the type of problem that India has to overcome.
We are delighted to welcome Sue Sudbury, the director of the film, to introduce it and provide a Q & A session afterwards.
Purbeck Film Festival: Supported by the BFI and its South West Regional Hub the Purbeck Film Festival aims to provide a rich variety of cinematic experiences across a rural area which does not have easy access to foreign language, independent and classic films.
