Purbeck Film Festival Open Air Cinema: Captain fantastic
The UK’s longest running rural and coastal film festival
Captain Fantastic (15)
1hr 58 mins
This is not a superhero film!
Ben and his six children have lived a wild, off-grid existence in the forest. The kids have been brought up hunting by day and reading philosophy by night. When they all hit the road for a funeral, the younger members grapple with pop culture and shopping malls while Ben must face his past and question his choices and his motives.
An offbeat and thoughtful comedy drama build around Viggo Mortenson’s perfectly pitched performance as the complicated, ambiguous Ben, this film has already become a cult classic for its maverick spirit and articulate script. A real hidden gem.
Gates open at 7.30pm and film screening at approximately 8.30pm. Please bring your own rugs or low backed seating. Picnics and wine welcome, wrap up warm and please bring a torch.
Event is weather dependent. In the event of inclement weather a decision will be made on the day about the screening and information will be posted on our wesbsite, social media and on the telephone enquiry line. Full refunds will be given in the event of cancellation for advance ticket bookings.
Ticket prices are £12.00 adults / £6.00 children. More details on website.
Purbeck Film Festival
Supported by the BFI and its South West Regional Hub the Purbeck Film Festival has, in its 24 years, continued to grow in terms of venues and audience numbers. Our primary aim is to provide a rich variety of cinematic experiences across a rural area which does not have easy access to foreign language, independent and classic films.
