Dorset Wildlife Trust Wild Seas Centre: High and Dry Art Exhibition

Exhibition of digitally restored images of marine animals

High and Dry: The Almost Forgotten World of the Late Georgian and Early Victorian Artists and Engravers. This unique art exhibition of digitally restored images of marine animals is dedicated to Georgian and Victorian anonymous artists and hand colourists.

This art exhibition showcases prints from a digital restoration project of hand coloured engravings from Ichthyology II: The Naturalist’s Library, published in 1840. Edited by Sir William Jardine the Scottish naturalist, it was the largest natural history publication of the Late Georgian and Early Victorian period.

The works on display include images from a book that has been in the same family since its publication and digitally restored during the recent lockdowns.

The event is ongoing.
