Careys Secret Garden: Finding Careys

Hear all about the history of the Secret Garden Project

Hear all about the history of the Secret Garden Project at Careys from Simon Constantine (garden founder), Paul Scriven (head gardener), and Dan Smith (garden designer).
For nearly 40 years the 3.5 acre walled garden at Carey lay almost untouched. In 2019, after a change of ownership, the gardens were ‘rediscovered’ and reimagined a new. Hear first hand the fascinating history and story of Careys Secret Garden.
Built-in 1883 the walled garden at Carey has never before been open to the public. Since its opening in May this year many of our visitors have been eager to find out more about the gardens, their origins, and plans for the future. In this 90 minute session, you can hear from Head Gardener, Paul Scriven, Garden Designer Dan Smith, and Founder Simon Constantine on their journey and hopes for the gardens.
For those with keen historic or horticultural knowledge feel free to challenge our panel and ask questions both throughout the presentation and in the Q+A session. Due to the open, (but weatherproof!) nature of our events space – blankets and a hot drink will be provided.
You are welcome to explore the walled garden before/after the talk.
Please dress warmly as the event will be taking place in the Reclaimed Barn.

20.00 for non members (Read more about Carey and their annual membership)

The location of the Secret Garden is only revealed once a ticket is purchased. It is only a short drive from Wareham.
