Corfe Castle

‘Visit Purbeck’s iconic survivor of the English Civil War!’

Corfe Castle – established by William the Conqueror and partially destroyed in the English Civil War. Now a majestic ruin and one of the main tourist attractions of Purbeck.

Corfe Castle is a great place to enjoy a fun-filled day out for all the family. Explore the castle ruins which were once home to kings and knights and find out about the important battles that took place here. Behind the fallen walls and secret hiding places, there are stories of treachery and treason.

Managed by the National Trust Corfe Castle also has a good programme of half-term and holiday activities and events  throughout the year. See details below…

Panoramic Views

Climb to the top of the castle hill to see the Purbeck hills, dotted with ancient burial mound and views over Poole Bay as far as the Isle of Wight.

Facilities

There is also a picnic area with picnic tables next to Corfe River. A cosy 18th-century tea-room and garden with unique close-up views of the castle. Information centre  for your visit to Corfe Castle.
