Visit Wareham, A town for all seasons!

Clouds Hill

‘The rural retreat of T. E. Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia. ‘

A tiny isolated cottage in the heart of Dorset which Lawrence furnished to his own personal taste and are today still much as he left them, giving an insight into the complex personality of the writer, warrior and friend of Thomas Hardy.

Discover the atmospheric rooms where he sat down to write, read, listen to music and entertain friends. You can explore inside the cottage where Lawrence of Arabia, T.E. Lawrence, sat to write, read and relax away from army life, and discover the shed where he tended to his beloved motorbike.

** Closed for essential conservation maintenance and will reopen March 2023 **

Did you know that T.E. Lawrence had close links to Wareham and his marble effigy is housed in St Martin on the Walls Church in North Street. Read Visit Wareham’s page on T.E. Lawrence for more details.
